About our Lone Scout

Zephyr is one of 200 Boy Scouts without a troop nationwide. He participates in Scouting as a Lone Scout, a division of Scouting which has been around since 1915. Lone Scouting lets boys who travel, are homebound, or otherwise find it difficult to participate in regular troop activities the opportunity to be Scouts.

In January 2001, Zephyr was interviewed in Providence, RI, by Robert Peterson for an article about Lone Scouts which appeared in the October 2001 issue of Scouting Magazine.

Being a Lone Scout the last thing he expected was a ceremony of any type, when he crossed over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. So, we decided to surprise him.

He didn't know anything about the ceremony until that night, after we had dinner with Matt and his family. He was a little surprised to say the least. Here he is doing a bit of last minute studying.
